Tumor

It wasn't her teeth... well her teeth weren't good, but apparently her drooling and difficulty eating are from a tumor in her jaw bone.

The vet says that her jaw is several times the size that it should be on the right side and is probably why she is having this trouble. He removed a tooth and that might help her, but we don't know yet.

It sounds like this problem is only going to get worse and the treatment options are not good. She probably wouldn't survive irradiation or chemo. He says they can remove part of her jaw and fix it that way, but it would be very difficult on her as well and disfiguring. He thinks we should just try to keep her comfortable....

I'm so sorry to hear about your poor kitty! I'm a huge animal lover (three dogs) and I know that your pets are like children. My thoughts are with you!

Oh Amanda, I am so sorry. Poor Muffy. I know this was not the news you wanted to hear. I'm so, so sorry.

I've had two cats that had jaw tumors, and I remember the drooling and difficulty eating vividly. We were able to keep both of them (it was a mother and son who developed the tumors within months of each other) comfortable for many months (at least six months) with good quality of life. I'm so sorry that you and Muffy have to deal with this. Muffy is lucky to have such a wonderful owner.

I cannot stop thinking about you and your poor Muffy. My heart is aching for you. Hands down, the death of our cat Shaggy was the worst thing we ever dealt with as a couple.

Oh pumpkin I am so sorry. I think the only thing that helped, was that we needed to be strong for Shaggy and help him.

I'm so sorry to hear that :(. Losing a pet is just as rough as losing a family member. My heart goes out to you and your family.
